The stage is set for what promises to be one of the biggest cue sports spectacles Northern Uganda has witnessed as the Kitgum Pool Club Knockout Championship officially gets underway this weekend, attracting some of the finest pool clubs from across the region.
The tournament curtain rises today, Friday at 7:00 PM, with the official draw ceremony taking place at Club Vortex in Monbunyu, Pandwong Division, Kitgum Municipality. The draw will be broadcast live on Kit Media Link's YouTube channel, giving pool enthusiasts from across Uganda and beyond an opportunity to witness the match pairings as they happen.
Interest in this year's championship has exceeded expectations, with more than 19 clubs already expressing their intention to compete. The tournament has evolved from a district competition into a regional showcase, drawing elite clubs from neighbouring cities and districts.
Among the headline entrants is Garage Lounge Pool Club from Gulu who are the current Gulu League Champions, while Code 8 Tiger Pool Club, also from Gulu, arrives with enormous confidence after recently being crowned Gulu Club Knockout Champions following a memorable victory over Arizona Pool Club from Lamwo in the final.
The competition's regional flavour is further strengthened by the participation of AMAC Community, representing Lira City, and Arua Pool Club, flying the flag for the West Nile region. Meanwhile, teams from Lamwo and Agago are yet to officially confirm their participation, although tournament organizers have already reserved slots in anticipation of their arrival.
As visiting teams prepare to challenge for the title, Kitgum's finest are equally determined to ensure the trophy remains on home soil.
Leading the local charge is Team Kabisa, captained by the experienced Ojara John Eddie, popularly known as Tungdyang Media, a respected figure within the local pool fraternity. Widely regarded as one of the tournament favourites, Team Kabisa carries the hopes of many home supporters eager to see the championship remain in Kitgum.
Standing firmly in their way is Team No Substitutes, led by former Kitgum Team captain Anywar Ivan, better known as B2K, whose leadership and competitive spirit make his side another serious title contender.
However, writing off the tournament's so-called underdogs could prove to be a costly mistake. Clubs such as Legends, Elite Team, Soweto, Maicamo, De-Capital, Wii-Lam, Kings Comfort, and Zone Pub - the reigning Kitgum Pool League Champions - boast several highly gifted cueists like Omara Moses the winner of the inaugural Money Bag Championship 'Central Region' & the twin Brother Ogenrwot Samuel who doubles as their captain capable of producing major upsets and reshaping the championship race as teams and clubs prepares for the upcoming Nile Special Qualifiers.
The host club, Snipers Pool Club, will enjoy home advantage and is expected to field a formidable side. Adding a unique dimension to the event is the club's exciting women's squad, She Snipers, who are ready to challenge the men and demonstrate that talent, precision, and determination know no gender.
The championship officially breaks off on Saturday, 18th July 2026, with matches running simultaneously across four competition tables, ensuring fans are treated to continuous high-quality action throughout the day.
Coverage of the tournament will be extensive, with live broadcasts provided by Kit Media Link, Amere Media, Tungdyang Media, and several other media houses committed to bringing every thrilling shot, tactical battle, and dramatic finish to audiences both locally and internationally.
With regional pride, fierce rivalries, and local bragging rights all at stake, the Kitgum Pool Club Knockout promises more than just competition-it promises unforgettable moments, emerging stars, and a celebration of Northern Uganda's growing cue sports culture.
Only one team will survive the knockout battle and lift the coveted championship trophy, walking away with a whopping cash prize and the honour of being crowned Kitgum Pool Club Knockout Champions.
As the countdown reaches its final hours, one question remains:
Will Team Kabisa defend home pride, or will a regional giant conquer Kitgum and write its name into the history books?
