Kitgum Pool Association Set to Honour League Champions in Grand Awards Gala

KITGUM – Kitgum Pool Association (KPA) prepares to recognize outstanding performers from the 2025/2026 Kitgum Pool League during its official Awards Ceremony scheduled for Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Hyperz Lounge, formerly known as Dreams Garden.

The event will bring together players, club officials, fans, and stakeholders to celebrate another successful league season that showcased both fierce competition and remarkable talent across Kitgum Municipality and its surrounding areas.

The ceremony will be officiated by the Association's chief sponsor, Hon. Oneka Lit Denis Amere, the Area Member of Parliament for Kitgum Municipality, whose continued support has played a significant role in promoting cue sports in the district.

This year's biggest story belongs to Zone Pub Shooters, who are to be crowned champions of the 2025/2026 Kitgum Pool League after another dominant campaign.

The latest triumph further cements the club's place in Kitgum's pool history, making them the first and only team to win the league title three times. Their previous championship victories came during the 2021/2022 and 2023/2024 seasons, with the 2025/2026 title completing an extraordinary hat-trick of league successes.

The only other club to interrupt their dominance remains Dreams Garden, who lifted the league trophy during the 2022/2023 season.

The 2025/2026 league began with an impressive 13 clubs, reflecting the growing popularity of pool in Kitgum. However, the competition concluded with only eight clubs after five teams withdrew before the season ended.

The clubs that exited the league included Tik Tok Pool Club (Pandwong Division), Top Link Pool Club (Akwang Sub-county), Commander One Pool Club (Pandwong Division), Salai Pool Club (Pager Division), and Wakanda Pool Club (Pandwong Division).

Despite the setbacks, league officials successfully completed the season, ensuring that the competition maintained its credibility and competitive spirit.

Speaking about the challenges encountered, Kitgum Pool Association Chairperson Akera Samuel Tyson acknowledged that player transfers and management issues significantly affected the second round of the league.

He noted that the Association remains committed to reviewing these challenges and strengthening league management ahead of the next season to ensure a more stable and competitive championship.

Beyond the men's competition, the 2025/2026 season will also be remembered for another historic achievement. The Kitgum Pool Association successfully introduced the first-ever Ladies Pool League in Kitgum Municipality, becoming one of the pioneering districts outside Kampala to organize a structured women's league competition.

Although only three clubs participated in the inaugural edition, the competition marked an important milestone in promoting women's participation in cue sports.

She Snipers Pool Club of Monbunyu emerged as the inaugural champions, while Zone Pub Shooters Ladies finished runners-up and King's Comfort Ladies claimed third place.

Saturday's Awards Gala is expected to be more than just a prize-giving ceremony. It will serve as a celebration of resilience, sportsmanship, and the continued growth of pool in Kitgum.

With champions set to be honored, outstanding performers recognized, and stakeholders gathering under one roof at Hyperz Lounge where the ceremony will also offer an opportunity to reflect on the achievements and lessons of the 2025/2026 season while looking ahead to an even stronger league in the years to come.
